This session will offer insights into building partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community groups, while showcasing the transformative potential of arts initiatives that are responsive to community needs.

Designed for all arts educators, this workshop will guide participants through key steps in program development, from identifying community needs to piloting initiatives and engaging local stakeholders. Through a combination of storytelling, interactive discussions, and actionable steps, participants will leave equipped to implement their own community-centered programs that inspire connection and foster lasting change.


PRESENTER BIO:

Cristina Duncan, Owner/Founder, The Gift of Dance

Cristina Duncan is the owner/founder of The Gift of Dance, a mobile dance company on a mission to provide quality dance education to communities & schools. The program serves over 500 students across St. Johns County each school year. They are known for breaking the barriers and providing access to dance for all students. Cristina recently launched a non profit to support her work in providing dance classes to therapeutic group homes and to mental health facilities to at risk youth. Cristina has studied dance her entire adult life and is a certified preschool dance educator and former SJCSD elementary dance teacher. She is wildly passionate about introducing students to the art of dance and believes that dance is for EVERY body — no matter their size, gender, or skill set.
