Reading 'IN' Music, Integrating Children's Literature to Engage Students in Music Education

led by: Cynthia Turner

Elementary Music lessons will be presented which integrate children's literature in various genres, to include music, visual arts, dance and drama. Stories and storytelling will be used to engage the learner in music topics such as dynamics, tempo, melody and timbre. Children's literature will be either the foundation for the lesson or play a supportive role. A reading list will be provided along with lessons and activities to use in your classroom.

Designed for all arts educators, this workshop will guide participants through key steps in program development, from identifying community needs to piloting initiatives and engaging local stakeholders. Through a combination of storytelling, interactive discussions, and actionable steps, participants will leave equipped to implement their own community-centered programs that inspire connection and foster lasting change.
