Using Tableaux, "Breathing Tableaux," Slow-motion, Pantomime, and Ensemble Work to Tell the Story

Are you interested in a workshop that will have you engaged, up on your feet, and participating? Do you often have casts with ensemble members that you aren't sure what to do with? Are you hoping to leave this conference with skills you will be able to use right away in your next production, theatre class or dance ensemble? This workshop will use exerts from a variety of genre to walk you through ideas to help you create your own dramatic way to tell the story in your next spring musical, class project, scene, or One Act. 


PRESENTER BIO:

Kathy Rivadeneira, Theatre Director/Educator, North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts

Kathy Rivadeneira is a native New Yorker who earned her Honors BA, in the specialized Drama in Education program with a Vocal Music focus at the University of Windsor and her Education Degree from Brock University in Ontario, Canada. 

Ms. Riva’s thirty-year theatre career as an educator/director/performer has taken her to theatres across The United States and Canada including Maine, Kansas and California. 

Currently “Ms Riva” is the Middle School Theatre and Costume educator, director, and Jr. Thespian sponsor at North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts.

Highlights of her career include producing back to back pilot productions of Disney’s Moana Jr. and Newsies Jr. and spending summers directing for the prestigious Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine. The 2024 production of Descendants was her biggest adventure to date. But she is most honored and proud of directing the one-act play, based on the book “I Never Saw Another Butterfly”: Children’s Poems and Drawings from Terezin Concentration Camp 1942-1944 which is a tribute to the children whose lives were stolen from them during the terrors of the Holocaust.
